Food banks and food pantries across the commonwealth work to make nutritious and culturally relevant food available to those at risk of hunger. But where does that food come from and how can we create a food system that supports Pennsylvania’s farmers, growers, and producers, as well as those who face food insecurity?
During this panel discussion, you’ll learn more about state and federal programs that build relationships between farmers and food banks, like the Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) program and the Pennsylvania Agricultural Surplus System (PASS). Farmers and representatives from Second Harvest Food Bank, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Flint Hill Farm, and Twin Maple Farms will share their experiences with these programs and help you explore your participation. We’ll also tour the food bank and enjoy finger foods. Come with questions and be ready to learn!
